Il était temps..... Je n'irai pas jusqu'à dire que ce projet est né dans la douleur mais l'accouchement ne fut pas des plus facile....
Reprenons depuis le début...... J'ai découvert la course de Pikes Peak un peu sur le tard grace au Net et aux magazines moto. Je trouvais l'épreuve intéresante mais lorsque j'ai découvert les photos des créations de Roland Sands qui concourraient à cette course j'ai tout de suite adoré ce style dépouillé et racing. Je cherchais dans le même temps à me préparer une moto de circuit qui puisse aussi rouler sur route : Bingo, l'idée de ce projet était née.
Parallèlement à ce point de départ je me dois de citer également un grand "builder" qui au travers de peu de préparations s'est imposé sur la scène de la customisation : Earle Motors ! Son flat track est l'un de mes énormes coups de coeurs de ces dernières années, et quelque chose me dit que je ne suis pas le seul...
Si Roland Sans a été ma première influence "fondatrice", il en est une autre qui m'a ensuite occupée l'esprit c'est la XR1 de Bottpower ! Bien ? Et bien non car tout au long du processus j'ai sans le vouloir voulu recréer cette XR1 à la sauce italienne et c'est là que ça se complique car s'inspirer d'un concept est positif, vouloir reproduire un concept ne mène qu'à une impasse.
Il m'a fallu réfléchir un certain moment afin de comprendre pourquoi je butais à faire advancer celle qui allait bientôt s'appeller "pikes Peak" mais une fois les choses comprises, je suis reparti vers la planche à dessins et repartir de zéro autour de la plaque phare pour imaginer un dessin unique vu (je le pense) nul part ailleurs : Arrondir les formes, amener du relief, de la texture, ouvrir l'espace ou se trouvent les lenticulaires pour pouvoir régler leurs hauteurs et ainsi prendre le parti d'une idée pour ensuite la valoriser : Le cercle vertueux était lancé.
Le résultat vous l'avez sous les yeux et qu'il plaise ou non, c'est bien une création originale ! Et ensuite ? Après le déverminage mené fin septembre 2017, les choses sérieuses vont reprendre là ou je les avaient laissées..... Tout simplement !

It was time.... I will not go so far as to say that this project was born in pain but childbirth was not easy....
Let's start from the beginning.... I discovered the Pikes Peak race a little bit late thanks to the Net and Magazines. I found the event interesting but when i discovered the pics of Roland Sands' builds who competed in this race i immediately loved this stripped style and racing. i was looking at the same time to prepare a circuit bike that can also ride on road: Bingo, the idea of this project was born.
As well as this starting point i have to mention a great builder who through only very few bikes has emerged as one of the most charismatic of the recent years : Earle Motors! His flat track is one of my favorites in recent years and I think I am far to be the only one...
If Roland Sands was my first "founding", there's another one that took my mind off it's the Bottpower XR-1! Good ? Well not because throughout the process I unwittingly wanted to recreate this XR-1 in Italian sauce and that's where it gets complicated because take inspiration from a concept is positive, want to reproduce a concept not leads to a dead end.
I had to think for a moment to understand why I was trying to advance the one that would soon be called "pikes Peak" but once I understood things, I went back to the drawing board around the plate to imagine a unique drawing seen (I think it) nowhere else: Round shapes, bring roundness, open the space where lenticulars are to be able to adjust their heights and so take advantage of an idea and then value it: The virtuous circle was launched.
The result you have seen it and whether people will like it or not, this is an original creation! Now, after the first test done in September 2017 the serious things will resume where i left them.... Simply !
